We’ve all seen smartphone manufacturers touting their devices like the latest and greatest gaming machine.
With high display refresh rate, high touch sensitivity, gaming mode, even external cooling systems, smartphones are a competitor in the handheld gaming space.
But have you seen a telco offering a gaming-centric prepaid service?
Digi has recently launched RDY (pronounced ready), a mobile plan for gamers.
Look past the early 2000’s naming convention where companies dropped vowels, and you’ll find a service that offers three core features.
First, unlimited data for seven specific games: Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, PUBG Mobile, Call of Duty Mobile, Free Fire, Arena of Valor, League of Legends: Wild Rift, League of Legends.
Outside of that, there’s a 50GB quota.
Second, all day gaming latency optimisation for the same seven games. That means a shorter ping time and a faster response during online play.
Third, subscribers can get 5% cashback when they purchase game credits using Digi Prepaid credits.
RDY comes with an RM88 price tag. As a part of its launched promotion, the price is slashed down to RM68 and the first 100 to sign up for it will get 5GB of extra data for 12 months.
Still, unless you’re an avid gamer and only play the games listed, RDY seems designed to be limited in scope and target. Beyond that, the package is very similar to Digi’s own Postpaid 90 service.
