No more than RM0.20 per (GB), that is how much Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB) is going to charge telecommunication companies for 5G services, said the Finance Minister.

Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz said so during a question and answer session in Parliament today (25 Nov).

He added that the pricing for 5G will be different and also be much lower than the cost per GB of 4G services by the telcos.

It will be less than RM0.20 per gigabyte offered to the companies for 5G, which is way cheaper if compared to the incremental cost of between RM0.45 to RM0.55 per gigabyte offered by telcos for their 4G services.

However, what he said is not the official price of 5G for telcos as that will be announced later.

We still do not know how much we as the consumer will be charged and for now it does not matter as 5G coverage in Malaysia is still in its infancy.
