Recently, Samsung Malaysia issued a notice that the Boost QR payment method will no longer be available on the Samsung Pay app starting 15 Nov.

In 2020, Boost was the first Malaysian eWallet to get Samsung Pay support and integration.

According to the announcement, all Samsung Pay users will have to perform a mandatory app update to remove the feature on 15 Nov. All existing Boost QR users will still be able to use the feature until then.

Meanwhile, Samsung Rewards Points from scanning DuitNow QR using non-Boost eWallets will no longer be be manually credited.

The reason Samsung is dropping Boost QR still remains unclear.

Samsung Pay offered Boost QR users quicker access to scan or show their QR codes. The only drawback of using the platform is, it’s limited to merchants that use Boost or DuitNow payment methods.
