Netflix is rolling out its gaming subscription feature globally after testing it in Poland, Italy and Spain. It is a members-exclusive perk and is currently only available on Android.
The streaming giant confirmed its plans to enter the mobile gaming market, calling games another new content category to offer customers.
Netflix includes a mix of casual games and games centered around the popular series “Stranger Things”.
The five titles that Netflix has released to all members are;
- Stranger Things: 1984 (BonusXP)
- Stranger Things 3: The Game (BonusXP)
- Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop)
- Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games)
- Teeter Up (Frosty Pop).
Gaming On Netflix
Netflix allows users to game by simply tapping on the Games tab in the app where the games are listed.
After selecting a title to play, users are directed to the Google Play Store to install the game. They will then need to sign in using their Netflix account to play.
According to Netflix the games will only be accessible to adult profiles and some titles will be available offline too.
TechCrunch spoke to Netflix and the company says the new games will be visible in Google Play Store starting 2 Oct but the rollout to Netflix Android app beginning 3 Oct.
Netflix said that it will take a few day before the rollout is complete globally.
Netflix added that the feature will be available on iOS devices in the coming months.
