Is Apple moving towards axing the OLED panels for a better alternative, or not?

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple is replacing the iPad panels for the 2022 update in certain iPad models.

However, a recent investor note from MacRumours says the iPad Air wont get the updated panels.

The iPad Air not seeing the light of mini-LED

The company will be staying with an LCD panel for the iPad Air variant, this is due to cost and also quality concerns as stated by Kuo.

This move by Apple is in line with a report back in September by The Elec, saying Apple will not work with Samsung for the development of the new OLED panels.

Kuo did offer a prediction that the new 2022, 11-inch iPad will feature a mini-LED panel, a piece of tech that is on the current 12.9-inch models.

Kuo also claimed that the focus for Apple’s 2022 release are the iPad line, adding that the Air models with OLED panels will be detrimental to Apple’s sales.
