PlayStation Studios have been producing hit after hit. Quite a lot of PlayStation (PS) exclusive titles went on to garner many positive reviews, awards and sales, for example, The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel’s Spiderman, Returnal, and many others. Now PS Studios have another winner under their portfolio.

Sony PlayStation tweeted yesterday that the latest God of War title achieved 5.1 million copies in its debut week and went on to become the fastest-selling first-party game launch in PlayStation history.

Sony didn’t say whether this figure includes PS5 and PS4 copies, but we assumed it is, since there are a lot more PS4 owners than PS5 at the moment.

For comparison, the previous God of War (2018), sold 3.1 million copies in its first three days and more than 5 million copies in its first month. By November 2022, the title sold more than 23 million copies, thanks to the PC port.

Without a doubt, God of War: Ragnarok will sell even more copies when they arrive on PC one year later. At the time of this writing, the title has a 94 critic score and an 8.3 User Score on Metacritic for the PS5 version.
