Tired of YouTube’s algorithmically generated recommendations? Looking for something new, exciting, and different?

We got you.

Recently we have been enthralled with Letters Live, a channel that started back in 2014 by Canongate and SunnyMarch.

Canongate is a publishing company while SunnyMarch is Benedict Cumberbatch’s (Sherlock) production company.

The channel features recordings of the Letters Live event, a celebrated phenomenon in the UK.

The premise of the stage presentation is simple: Get the most extremely talented thespians to read letters.

But these are no ordinary letters, they are some of the most extraordinary letters ever sent. Some are personal, some are historic. Some are comedic, some are dramatic. All real.

You will not believe the roller coaster of emotions packed in these reads that are less than six minutes long each.

For your consideration, here is one of our favourites, a letter from Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother telling her ‘darling’ mother-in-law, Queen Mary, about a German bomb that fell at the Buckingham Palace in 1940.

Read by Olivia Colman.

Need more convincing? Try this hilarious letter sent by ‘Name Withheld’ to an insurance company detailing to them about a sticky situation. Read by Alan Carr.
