Instagram Is Letting EVERYONE Share Links In IG Stories

Previously you had to be verified or have over 10,000 followers to share links.

We’ve seen a lot of “Link In Bio” posts in Instagram stories and even posts but that will no longer be the case as Instagram is rolling out a new sticker that will eliminate the need of “Link In Bio”.

As of yesterday Instagram has allowed users to link their followers to non-Instagram content directly. The release of this new feature comes after Instagram has done some tests with the feature using a select group of users.

Instagram initially kept the feature from users, either to keep the platform clean and focused on imagery or as a tool to drive engagement.

Regardless of that, users started using “Link In Bio” to promote or redirect their audience where they want to.

The New Feature

Now, any Instagram user can share a link in a Story post as easy as adding a GIF or poll to their Story.

When we first introduced Stories links, the feature was limited to verified accounts or those with a certain number of followers. We’ve heard from the rest of our community that they also want to share things that matter with their friends and family. Whatever you’re into, from cooking to volunteering or shopping, you now have a space to share in Stories — regardless of your account size

The sticker tool is barebones right now. Instagram does have plans to enable customisations so that users can put up their content and have the followers know what they are clicking on.

However, Instagram is not letting users go wild on the feature just yet. Users are still unable to post links in comments or main posts and those who frequently break the company’s guidelines will have the feature taken from them.

And on that note, we will say goodbye to “Link In Bio”.
